Boost Efficiency
With the global water crisis gaining attention, there is an increasing pressure on manufacturers across industries to treat their wastewater efficiently. Owing to the stringent regulations imposed by state mechanisms, it has become necessary for water treatment plant users to boost their treatment system’s efficiency. Also, if these treatment systems are not working efficiently, there can many risks involved such as costly repairs, huge fines due to the high amount of effluents in treated water, and so on.
How Valens can achieve better efficiency and improve cost savings.
Reduction in sludge haulage and disposal
- The reduction can be up to 60% which will result in significant savings in sludge haulage and disposal fees. Secondary cost savings can occur in reduced labor and capital costs required for residual sludge handling.
Energy cost savings
- Aeration to maintain biomass is reduced. This is due to its speed and effectiveness to break down/oxidize organic waste products. This can result in lower energy consumption/costs.
Reduction in chemical additive costs
- Chemical additives, such as flocculants, can be reduced due to the lesser biomass contained in the sludge resulting in direct savings in chemical costs. The reduction of chemical use will also create an additional benefit to operators as they will handle less of these chemicals.
Reduced wear and tear on plant equipment. Increase longevity of treatment plant equipment
- Reducing solids in the influent which will reduce strain on equipment from handling higher sludge volumes.
- Reducing hydrogen sulfide by up to 17% reducing wear and tear of plant equipment. This should translate to lower maintenance costs of treatment plant equipment.
Reduction in odor
- Reducing and/or eliminating odors emitted from wastewater treatment facilities.
Increased capacity/capital avoidance
- Reducing the required contact time and sludge volumes. This will enable higher volumes of wastewater to be treated with the same equipment resulting in significant capital avoidance.
Increased process stability
- Increasing plant stability as there is less reliance on maintaining the biomass.
Potential to reduce classification of sludge waste
- Removing a significant amount of pathogens and volatile organic content from sludge waste. This may result in the reclassification of waste products to a less hazardous criteria. This may make sludge waste suitable for salable commercial applications rather than waste disposal.
Effluent Quality
- Reducing BOD, COD, SS, TKN, turbidity loadings in effluents. This may help effluent to meet licensing requirements and potentially reduce licensing costs.
